Service Before Self
Excellence in All We Do
These reflect the values we all share as ladies and gentlemen of
the Kenston Forest School Family. As members of this family, it is
imperative that we maintain the moral high ground. We have inherited a
history of Integrity, Service, and Excellence. We must embrace that heritage,
become part of it, live up to it, and pass it on.
Integrity First
reminds us we must "walk the talk" – our words and actions must be
integrated in our lives. It reminds us of Thomas Jefferson's concept of
moral muscles – that we build and strengthen our character through the
daily exercise of words, actions and decisions. Integrity First
means that we must have moral courage, and be prepared to stand up by speaking
up. It means being loyal to our God, Nation, Family, and School.
Service Before Self requires a sacrifice
of personal convenience, individual wants, and self-satisfaction as we
continuously strive to fulfill our commitment to God, Nation, Family, and
School. Service Before Self
means that as a member of the Kenston Forest School Family, we are expected to go
above-and-beyond the mediocrity of a complacent, "entitled" society. We
must have a mindset that
the team is greater than the individual and fulfilling our mission is dependent
on every team member doing his or her part.
Excellence in All We Do reminds us that anything
worth doing is worth doing well. If you don't have the time to do it
right, when will you have the time to do it again? Our works should bear
our signature; our signature represents our mark pledging superior work.
We should always be able to meet the old "Hometown Newspaper Test" – imagining
our parents and the entire community reading about our actions, and wanting them
to be proud. This also includes the concept of honor – knowing our actions
reflect on all members of the Kenston Forest School Family and on the school
itself.
