Student ClubsBOOK CLUB
The KFS Book Club meets once a month and is open to all students in
grades 8 through 12. Students participate by reading and discussing new young
adult literature over lunch in the library. The purpose of the club is to
provide a forum where students enjoy award winning literature and discussion
with their peers. This organization promotes critical thinking and self
expression. The KFS Book Club engages in an ongoing discussion, does art imitate
life, or does life imitate art.
ART CLUB
Students in Grades 8-12 participate in various projects as well as support and
encourage the creative arts.
CHORALE
Students in grades 8-12 may participate in the Kenston Forest Chorale. Students
perform at various school functions such as Graduation and musical programs
throughout the year. Chorale members often travel for performances outside the
school throughout the year.
DRAMA CLUB
Members of the Drama Club prepare and present productions during the school
year. Some students may participate in role playing while others use their
skills and talents in art, music, and organization to successfully produce and
sell the production.
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA)
The FCA is a student-led organization that promotes Christian ideals, spiritual
development, and community support. This organization is NOT limited to
athletes, all are welcome to join!
FORENSICS
Forensics is open to all students in grades 5-12. The team competes in public
speaking, monologue presentation, poetry reading, prose reading, creative
writing, and handwriting. This organization promotes individual skill and
encourages creativity, self expression, and sound thinking.
GAMES AND STRATEGY CLUB
The Games and Strategy Club allows students to engage in games of strategy such
as chess and risk.
SCHOLASTIC BOWL
Scholastic Bowl is sponsored by the Association of Virginia Academies. It is an
academic team that competes with other schools within the Association. Faculty
sponsors of this club choose the members who will be eligible to compete.
TRI-HI-Y
Each year the Virginia YMCA sponsors a variety of programs to educate students
on state government. KFS students perticipate in the Model General Assembly (MGA)
and the Model Judiciary (MJ). Through these programs, these students assume the
roles of state legislators (MGA) as well as lawyers and witnesses (MJ) to make
learning come alive. Students are selected to participate in the roles of these
programs based on age, interest, and prior participation.
