To jog your memory and provide a little nostalgia, here are a few significant events that occurred in our graduation year.

Major Events of 1984

Apple introduces the first Macintosh computer.

Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, is assassinated.

Soviets boycott Los Angeles Olympics.

Astronauts from the space shuttle Columbia make the first untethered space walk.

IRA bombs the Grand Hotel in Brighton. British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher survives, but five others are killed.

Britain and China sign the Sino-British Joint Declaration. Hong Kong is to be returned to China in 1997, but will be a "Special Autonomous Region."

Rakesh Sharma is the first Indian in space.

Vanessa Williams becomes the first Miss America to resign (after nude photos of her are published in Penthouse magazine).

Miami Vice first airs on TV.

A gas leak at a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India kills more than 3,800 people.
